Introduction

If you find it difficult saving money, or even keeping your head above water in the financial sense, you are not alone.  Most people I have met in my professional career who do not consider themselves wealthy are in similar financial circumstances.  For a long time, I considered myself among this majority.  I am of course referring to the average middle-class individual who works everyday, at least forty hours a week, but finds it difficult to save money at the end of each month.

Many middle-class folks not only find it impossible to save money but also face the burden of accumulating credit card or consumer debt. Unfortunately, many middle-class people feel as if we are on a “financial wheel”, where we work long hours during the month but, by the time the month is over, can barely cover bills with out hard-earned salaries.

For many years, I was exasperated with my own finances.  After speaking with literally hundreds of people over twenty-two years, discussing and analyzing different circumstances over this period, I have concluded that most of us have similar financial difficulties.  I have also discovered that these financial difficulties can be overcome, as the following pages will show.  Please note that I speak from experience.  Where once I struggled financially, now, with a different perspective, I have obtained financial stability, security, and confidence that I wish to share with you.

In order to share my opinions on how to “get ahead” financially, I explore why we must face financial difficulty.  I explore our macro-economic society (”the big picture”) and conclude that the folks with the most, the “rich”, pretty much run the show.  I explore why prices always rise, why and how our retirement plans have been systematically taken from us to accept our fate, as well as the role of the national politician, who creates laws that perpetuate out struggle to “get ahead”.  Once you understand that you are supposed to struggle financially, I offer you a sound system for overcoming your financial difficulties.  This book offers a unique approach to your finances by addressing why it is important that we struggle and what we can do about fixing our financial circumstances.  I offer my opinions on investment opportunities, such as the stock market and investing in real estate, as well as a simple, solid approach to realistically plan and fund your retirement.
